Evening folks. Not much time today, but everything goes on the blog; the good, bad, finished and unfinished.
I will definately have to revisit though and take some more time over this Church near the bottom of Broughton Street, the building, Broughton St Mary’s Parish Church, is one of my favourites and I pass it near every day.

With the afternoon away from the office I took a trip into town with the twins. They opened their first bank account, receiving a story book and money box each for doing so.
After climbing the hill from Stockbridge, and before visiting the bank we stopped at Waterstones on George Street for some refreshment. There is a Costa to the back of the shop. We all had milk, mine with added shots of espresso.
This is a pencil sketch of the twins drinking their milk in the pram. I like the scribble effect, it looks almost ghostly. Very different from yesterdays Where Art I? sketch.

Currently watching the telly on a Sunday evening. Every now and again we glimpse over to the two monitors to the left of the screen. They remain silent for now, meaning the babies are sleeping soundly. Eyes drift back to Sherlock.. 🙂
We went for a walk through the park today, the sun was shining and the sky was clear and blue.
Inverleith park is opposite the Botanics in Edinburgh and has a beautiful duck pond close to the Stockbridge exit of the park. My wife and I, along with the twins all wrapped up against the wind, took a bag full of bread to feed the swans, ducks and seagulls that flock there.
Here is a quick (as it was a bit nippy and my fingers were going numb!) sketch of Joanne feeding the swans, a pen sketch with a little watercolour over the top.
The humble Scotch pie, a national icon, and a staple of the Scottish diet. It costs little and doesn’t require cutlery making it the true ‘everyman’ meal!

… and not just because of the weather. This lamp is one of two either side of steps leading into Dundas House, one of Standard Life’s buildings in Edinburgh.
I love spotting these unusual pieces of sculpture and architecture in Edinburgh, one of the reasons I love Edinburgh so much.

This must be one of the quieter shops in Edinburgh today, ‘Ye olde Christmas shoppe’ on the Royal Mile. Although full of the most beautiful festive items, I can’t help wondering how they survive the summer months. But survive it does, and has done so for almost twenty years. A great little Cannongate shoppe!

Happy Christmas one and all! I had a wonderful day yesterday with my family down in Preston, the twins first Christmas and they were rightly spoilt rotten! A great feast was had and lots of laughter, and merriment. I hope yours was as much fun!

I was up all last night illustrating for a client. Funny how you don’t notice the time as much when you’re enjoying yourself. Tired now though.
