Not too early, up at seven today for their first feed of the day. Just afterwards when they are content and playful, we chat on the comfy mat before a wee snooze and then lunch!

Policebox coffee shop
This coffee takaway at the top of Leith Walk, infront of St Mary’s RC Cathedral, is an old converted policebox, many of which are dotted around Edinburgh.
Perfectly positioned this small box would once of been home to policemen guarding the road up to Edinburgh’s East End. Now it supplies coffee to the city’s many workers.

Seek and ye shall find
I love the fact I can still find new and different view points in Edinburgh, beautiful treasures that I have somehow missed until now.
Like this impressive semi circle of carved stone monoliths, which stand as a monument for the Royal Scots in Princes Street Gardens. Unveiled by HRH Princess Mary, Colonel in Chief on 5 August 1952, I have no excuse for not seeing it before!
It also makes a perfect place to enjoy your lunch, especially on freshly mown grass and in the glorious sunshine.
That’s handy
The nearest Lloyds bank to my work shuts for lunch. I would of thought that was the time to have extra staff if anything, not shut the front doors. So anyway while I was waiting for them to reopen I sketched this pub, a couple of doors along. The Artisan on London Road, not far from the Meadowbank retail park.
The morning after
A great wedding was had at St Andrews and St Georges West, as I now know it is called, on George Street. A fantastic night followed at the neighbouring George hotel. Great company, food and drink, all in a stunning location. All the very best to Gary and Laura, who looked amazing.

Colour on the Balmoral
My sketch of The Balmoral looking over the North Bridge, this time coloured with a couple of pencil crayons, and scanned. I have kept two just two hues to keep the image simple, and stylised.
This view shows the rear of The Balmoral hotel, the front opens onto Princes Street. The clocks on the top of hotel all run five minutes fast, thought to be so Edinburgh business men and women don’t miss their trains! I’ve been grateful of those extra five minutes many a time rushing to work.

The office stapler
Trapped in the office today, just like this stapler. A quick sketch on my office pad, with my office pencil. 
This is a shop I used to pass all the time on the way to work with my wife. We have never been in, always stuck in the traffic making our way up to George Street. They always have such lovely maternity wear hanging in the window.
