Learn how to quickly capture the world around you in ink and watercolour.
On these 2.5 hour sketching tours I will guide you around my favourite sketching spots, picking out details in architecture and nature that will help share the techniques I have picked up over a decade of sketching in and around Edinburgh.
Each class will touch on details, perspectives, depth and composition, as you go from 5 minute exercises to relax the hand and work on composition, to 30 minute detailed vistas whilst enjoying a walk around beautiful and historical locations.
You will start and finish at various places around Edinburgh and sometimes further afield. See each listing below for more information.
My sketching tours are perfect for all levels, from beginners to those who would like to learn more about his unique speed-sketching style, or to practice sketching with ink and watercolour. Children aged 8 and above are very welcome although children aged 8-15 must be accompanied by a ticket holding adult.
A picture mount to house your finished sketches plus all materials needed on the day are included. This is a walking and sketching tour so do check the forecast and come dressed for the Scottish weather!
The New Town with Arienas Collective
Join me in the beautiful New Town of Edinburgh drawing the Georgian architecture. We will head out from our Arienas Collective base for an inspirational walk and sketch tour picking out details and perspectives in the city street furniture.
This 2.5 hour session is £30 per person or with a bring a friend discount, 2 for £50.

Nature at Lauriston Castle
Join me in the grounds of this 16th Century town house to sketch the details in nature. Using both close ups and distant views to pass on my techniques to help you capture your surroundings quickly in ink and watercolour.
This 2.5 hour session is £30 per person or with a bring a friend discount, 2 for £50.

By The Seaside with the Scottish Seabird Centre
A trip out of the city to sketch items from the beach and views over to Bass Rock. This is a wonderful and inspiring day drawing in a different location showing how the same techniques and simple tools will have you sketching where ever you find yourself.
