I was lucky enough to sketch this amazing group of international acrobats who united to create a wonderful show full of breath taking tumbles, spins and gravity defying stunts.
They first took part in a photo shoot down by Wardie harbour before taking up residence in the Assembly Main Hall on the Mound. I was on the edge of my seat as I watched their skill and strength and amazing trust they have in one another. So inspiring.
And then thanks to the StorytellingPR company I and a few fellow sketchers had the chance to watch and paint a few of the group in the Meadows on a glorious Saturday afternoon.
I found freedom in letting go of perfection and just trying to trace their movement through the air. It was a wonderful experience and something I will try to take forward into almost abstract pieces using colour and linework to capture movement.

After the poses and the sketches we chatted together, shared our drawings with the acrobats and found out a little more about the traveling group. It was a great sunny festival day in Edinburgh.
