On the way to work this morning I stopped by the parliament. Only a short 10 minute stop but I wanted to catch the crooked sticks that cover the doors and windows along the front.
I think I’ll come back to do some closeups, the positive and negative shapes and angles are great when you get close in.
…this sketching. Another latte in another coffee house, this time Foodies on Holyrood road. The weather changed from gale force winds to scorchio sunshine, to torrential rain while I supped my caffine fix.
I waited for scorchio sunshine to come round again before heading back to the office 😉
Here is my previous Anstruther watercolour sketch, this time scanned in rather than photographed on my mobile. You can see the improvement in quality from my previous post here: https://edinburghsketcher.com/?p=936
Also this is my sketch from this morning, again scanned rather than photographed
A wee gift shop opposite St Giles Cathedral on the Royal Mile, and my first dabble in coloured pencils.
It certainly is a little easier than the watercolours but perhaps the effect is a touch messy. Plenty to work on then tomorrow 🙂
Here is my Anstruther pic from a couple of weekends ago, https://edinburghsketcher.com/?p=912 but this time with added watercolour.
I’m still having trouble finding time to add colour on location. I think I may try pencil crayons next, any ideas for more speedy mediums from fellow sketchers would be greatfully received!
A trip along to the Grassmarket today and this pen and pencil sketch from one of the benches.
The tours have started and I could hear a group being told all about the gruesome hangings that used to be the main attraction on the cobbles here.
Mocha, our purrrfect pussy cat. She has taken the new arrivals in her stride and been very patient, watching from up high and only hiding away when the cries get too much!
