A gorgeous day in Edinburgh, sitting in the sunshine this was my view through Parliament gardens towards Dynamic Earth. The strange objects in the foreground are bicycle posts, from a certain angle the form the shape of a bike. Not this angle, obviously 🙂
Some early morning marker-pen sketches of my beautiful children sleeping on my knee.
Having just been fed, they are milk drunk, sleeping like wee angels.
Good luck to St John’s Choir @stjohnschoir tonight, Good Friday 7.30pm, Handel’s Messiah Part Two.
Here’s a sketch of the exterior on the corner of Princes street and Lothian road.
I have yet to step inside but hear it is stunning and well worth visiting for the architecture alone.
Cockburn Street has always been a favourite of mine, bright and colourful shops line the curved street from The Royal Mile down to the train station.
‘Toddle-in’ looks to be an olde worlde sweetie shop, and next door a lovely shop called ‘Cutie House’, full of original gift ideas.
Heading along Market Street today behind Waverley station. I was reminded of these arches that run along the left of the street, getting smaller as they near the station.
You can see the first one, doors closed on the left, I’m sure they are to be used as stalls during the festival.
A busy Royal Mile today as the tourists swarm up to the Castle, here’s a view of the Camera Obscura from the top of the Mile.
I’m ashamed to say I’ve never been in, but i have heard many good things, especially to do with the new exhibits.
I will have to promise to return as time has ran away yet again.
A quick nip to the bank today, but had to stop to listen (and sketch) the busker on the Royal Mile. Very good blues guitar, I wish I had longer to watch.
Out and about with the twins, snug in their pram, James can hardly be seen but Zoe is looking round, beginning to get hungry.
I’m sketching while rocking the pram with one foot, which may explain why its not my best!
Sketches, news and family life in Scotland's capital city.
