A time-lapse video of myself sketching from The Scotsman Hotel on Edinburgh’s North Bridge over looking Princes Street and all the Christmas festivities.
My ink sketch with watercolour wash shows Edinburgh’s Christmas festivities well under way, from the big wheel on the left to the Star Flyer high above the shops on the right.
Thanks to The Scotsman Hotel for allowing access to the impressive Barron Suite on their seventh floor. From my amazing view point I could see right along Princes Street as the crisp winters day turned into night and the Christmas lights changed the scene entirely.
The accompanying song is by singer song writer, Stephanie Kirkham. Follow the link below to hear more of her beautiful melodies.
So many commissions to do lately which is fabulous, thanks to everyone who has ordered an original Edinburgh Sketcher piece as a gift this year.
I’m off this lunchtime to my usual haunt, a wee table in a warm coffee shop. You may see me scribbling away, photo propped up on a full coffee cup, pens and waters colour paints laid out on the table.
For those who haven’t ordered a commission but would still like to give the gift of Edinburgh Sketcher art, I am creating some vouchers to buy.
Merry Christmas everyone, thanks to all those who like to keep up to date with my sketches of life in Edinburgh. Especially to all those who bought prints, Christmas cards or commissioned sketches during 2012.
As a special thank you i’ll be offering 10% discount on all new commissions booked in January 2013. Merry Christmas!
Meet Festive Fergus, the lovely doggy belonging to Edinburgh masseuse Mariota Dunning, of m massage.
I recently sketched a portrait of Fergus and he very kindly agreed to come back and dress all Christmassy so we could enter the #FestiveFurballs competition running at Leith Library. Have you entered your pet yet?

This is your second glimpse of one of this years Christmas Cards. Being printed as we speak, ‘Helter Skelter’ will be one of six cards in a pack to go on sale from Saturday.
Three will be three watercolour cards like this one and three black and white like ‘Bobby and robin’, which you can see HERE.
They’ll be £3.50 for the pack of six with £1 from each pack going to Sick Kids Childrens Hospital charity; the Sick Kids Friends Foundation.

This must be one of the quieter shops in Edinburgh today, ‘Ye olde Christmas shoppe’ on the Royal Mile. Although full of the most beautiful festive items, I can’t help wondering how they survive the summer months. But survive it does, and has done so for almost twenty years. A great little Cannongate shoppe!
