What a beautiful sunny day in Edinburgh, or at least it looks that way from our hospital room in the Sick Kids Children’s Hospital. My wee man James has an infection so we were in overnight to keep an eye on him.
He’s happy enough this morning, wanting his breakfast so I best go. Enjoy the sunshine Edinburgers!
Up at sick kids with one of the twins this afternoon, he’s fine, hopefully a case of better safe than sorry. We should be getting home soon, just as the rain starts. It looks like a storm is coming tonight.
I sketched and quickly coloured this watercolour while James slept through a walk in The Meadows.

Cycling home via The Shore, Newhaven and Granton Square tonight. I stopped opposite The Starbank Inn to catch this sketch of the waves crashing against the shore.
What a difference a day makes, after yesterdays picnic in St Andrews Square in the sunshine today is a washout. We are dashing from shop to shop on Princes Street, dodging umbrellas and soggy tourists!
I reached St Andrews Square this afternoon just in time to see The Red Hot Chilli Pipers (@chillipipers) playing to the crowd that was bathing in the sunshine. I met my sister and neice who are up for a few days plus Mrs Sketcher and the little sketcher kiddies. We had a lovely picnic and the twins had a good dance to the pipers.

Yesterday the family and I visited the Out of the Blue Drill Hall, our first visit to this former military building now arts centre in Leith.
Providing artists studios, rehearsal and performance areas, exhibition spaces and a cafe the space has a happy community feel, and is vital for Edinburgh’s art scene. We were there to see the Arts Market, which gives the artists of Out of the blue a chance to sell their creations and meet the public. There were some great illustrators on show, a couple I particularly liked were Jennifer Boxall-Gray‘s lovely birds, and Rosie Walters‘ cityscapes.

For the start of the Royal Jubilee weekend I’m uploading my bunting flags illustration. I’ve added a touch of colour to the sky which lifts the image a great deal. I couldn’t decide on the colours for the actual flags so I thought I’d leave it to the imagination.
