The family were treated to lunch at Loch Fyne restaurant at Newhaven Harbour today thanks to Aunt Dorothy. As I sat eating a delicious plate of smoked mackerel and mustard mash, the haar rolled in from the the sea, totally hiding Fife behind a curtain of fog.

Comfy footwear
These are my comfy trainers, newer versions have come and gone but these scruffy, stained and slightly whiffy pair are still the ones I go too when I just want to relax. Or more recently when I want to hit the road and get in some training in ahead of my all to soon 5k jog around Arthur’s Seat for the Sick Kids charity on 23rd October.
I’m looking for sponsor’s by the way 😉 http://www.justgiving.com/5kforsickkids
Hunter Square
A glorious day to day in Edinburgh, what better than sitting at a table sipping coffee, soaking up the rays and watching the world go by? This was my view from Chocolate Soup cafe on Hunter Square in Edinburgh, where did you spend your lunch hour?
Therapy
There is something very theraputic about sitting in a peaceful garden and looking at trees for twenty minutes.
Concentrate on the many beautiful colours as the low light flickers through the leaves, notice how the dark branches weave their contrasting path through the sky. Let out a huge sigh and wonder in the fact you are only a few feet away from the hustle and bustle of the Royal Mile.
I tinted the sketch on my PC, its the nearest I could get to the autumnal foliage.
Coffee haven
Back to normality today, and into work as we start to get back into a routine. But as we are still visiting Sick Kids daily for now I’m sure we will be popping into this cafe from time to time.
Victor Hugo Delicatessen is situated just around the corner from the hospital, and the nearest place we found to get good coffee. The home cooking is great too, if you don’t mind a bit of a wait, as a sign reads, ‘We don’t do fast food‘. However with views across the Meadows park it’s a great place to wait.
Jungle in the city
I passed a couple of crocodiles today in St Andrew Square, one of 130 animals living in Edinburgh until the end of September.
This one is called ‘Crocosaurus’ by Mariana Bassani. Be careful, it’s a jungle out there.
Visit www.jungle-city.org for more information.
Wind in the Meadows
A windy day in the Meadows today. Between visits to Sick kids a walk around the park for my wife and I certainly blew away the cobwebs, as well as most of the leaves of these huge trees.
P is for Pumpkin
Weaning time at Costa today and the kids enjoyed some pumpkin and carrot purée, yummy!
Late day sunshine
I love this time of year for the low sun and long shadows. Both of which I have caught with this sketch from a late afternoons walk through the Meadows park in Edinburgh’s city centre.
Changing colours
Autumn has certainly arrived in the suburbs of Edinburgh, as these beautifully coloured leaves lying on the pavement show.
